A little about South Shores...

South Shores LLC was founded in 2000 by Loren St. Pierre, its president, and is located in Trenton, Michigan, near the Detroit River and across from Grosse Ile. My floor covering profession started in 1974 as a stockperson for New York Carpet World, Southfield, Michigan. Over the next 25 years, I worked my way through promotions from sales to store manager. The journey afforded me many opportunities to learn not only about flooring products, but numerous aspects of selling, installation, management and customer satisfaction.

Having been responsible for ten salespeople, twelve installation contractors, four clerical and six stockers, delivering over $350,000 in monthly sales; the experience became rewarding.

After New York Carpet World sold to Shaw Industries, I left the company to pursue my captain's license to skipper private yachts. I had logged enough sea time on my own boat, cruising the Great Lakes, to acquire my license. I then decided to enroll in Chapman's School of Seamanship to prepare for the captain's license exam. Upon graduation, I enrolled in Chapman's Professional Marine Survey course. With license in hand, I took a job aboard a 100-foot Broward logging over 4,000 nautical miles from Palm Beach, Florida to Cleveland, Ohio, and back stopping in many major cities such as New York City, Washington D.C., and Boston for corporate entertaining. This experience allowed me to upgrade to a 100-ton master's license. I continue working aboard various yachts including a 63 foot Sea Ray and 115 foot Benetti.

In 2000, I left yachting to begin a carpet replacement business for boats and yachts. Coupling my knowledge in the floor covering industry with my passion for boats, I started South Shores Boat Carpet, specializing in carpet, wood, ceramic and vinyl flooring.
